Thomas Mitchell said "An independent report submitted in January 2022 suggested giving a 14% wage rise to Councillors from May 2022, this was held back until June.

Could it have been that the Conservative run Council sets its budget in February and did not want to face the voters just weeks after giving Councillors a 14% pay rise? All the while, calling for pay restraint and an inflation rate at 10% - the highest in 40 years."

Thomas and Craig both voted against the raise and gave the entirety of their pay increase to the local food bank.
