At the council meeting on 18th June Liberal Democrat Councillors spoke out on the dreadful decision to re-draw the boundaries for next Mays elections. We supported keeping the ward boundaries as they currently are with a reduction in Councillors.
The Labour leadership passed an option to support this but included two further options reducing the number of wards and councillors. Leaving Rushmoor in a weak position.
Cllr Craig Card says “We are very unhappy with the Labour government changing the rules for Local Government Review again. Initially they were leaving the current wards in place with a reduction of 13 councillors to represent your communities now they are demanding a further reduction to just 20 councillors so that’s almost half the current councillors gone who represented your views. We will be the smallest represented area within the new amalgamated North Hampshire Authority.”
