The Liberal Democrat motion to request Union Flags on public highways are taken down rejected by Conservative and Labour.
At the recent Rushmoor Full council meeting the Liberal Democrat councillor team put forward a motion requesting that Rushmoor Council ask Hampshire County Council to take down the Union flags that have gone up on lampposts throughout the borough. Highways are the responsibility of Tory run Hampshire County Council.
We submitted this motion after months of listening to residents from all parts of our community. Cllr Craig Card said “Whilst I understand raising this issue is seen as controversial by some it is important that we speak out for those that don’t have a voice or are not permitted to speak out.”
