14% wage rise for Councillors

At the full council meeting on 23rd June 2022 Rushmoor Conservative Councillors voted for a 14% a basic wage rise from £5,425 to £6,200. The vote was 21 in favour and 10 against. The Conservative leader and some senior Councillors spent the evening telling councillors that the independent report recommended the increase so it should be accepted because it was independent and councillors are not paid as much as other councillor's in other authorities. 21 councillors get a further Special Responsibility Allowances totalling £105,650 Several Conservatives made comparisons with Guildford, Southampton and Hampshire to show the difference between how much those Councillors are paid compared to Rushmoor Councillors which are not comparable with Rushmoor.

Chapel Lane

Local residents have contacted your Liberal Democrat team about the strange work that has taken place outside Chapel Lane shops. Mounds of earth have been built and large kerbs stones scattered. We are looking into why this has taken place. We understand it has been installed as part of a scheme by Hampshire county council. We are asking what further work is due to be done to finish the project and whether perhaps a wider discussuion with local residents should be sought to get views on what is needed and might look best for the area.

Winning in St Marks

A big thank you to everyone who voted yesterday. Congratulations to Craig Card, newly elected Lib Dem councillor for St Mark's ward. The result is fantastic news for the people of North Camp, and doubles the number of Lib Dem councillors in Rushmoor.
