Park and Queens road

Lib Dems have been watching what has been happening along Park and Queens Roads with the traffic diversions. The problem does not seem to be getting any better. The introduction of the diversion into North Camp Shops has taken place at the worst time of year for retailers. We are delivering Focus with details of how to contact Hampshire Directly through email and have launched a petition for people to sign. Link here: http://rushmoor.lib.dm/P748 calling for action on this Rat run.

New Southwood Country Park visitor centre

Southwood Country Park Opening Councillor Craig Card visiting on opening day to view the new building at the Southwood Country Park. Checking out the wheelchair access to the building and outside cafe area. Both were very wheelchair friendly apart from the doors. The first stage sees the playground and the outdoor cafe cabin open. Also a small crafts fair was taking place. We await the completion of the rest of the building to be opened sometime in the not-too-distant future. Well worth a visit.

Update on Conservation Area

On Tuesday last week the decison on the conservation areas around Highgate Lane and Chingford Avenue went at short notice to the Conservative Cabinet meeting at Rushmoor Council for decision. We found out about this only days before hand and put a note out as soon as we could to residents in the area. The conservation areas had been amended - Farnborough Hill area now retains the grounds of Farnborough Hill but no longer includes Highgate Lane and Chingford Avenue. The new Farnborough Street area also had some amendments. Local residents attended the meeting and 70 people had responded to the consultation held earlier in the year. Whilst the Lib Dem team do not agree in particular with the Highgate lane and Chingford Avenue area being removed the Conservative Cabinet agreed with the proposals.
